What we do

The Latin American Board develops and implements innovative leadership programs and supports and promotes strategic alliances and networks with transformational impacts. Our efforts are divided in four key areas:

  • Leadership Programs. Imparted by Georgetown’s University distinguished faculty members and expert guest speakers, the Latin American Board awards leaders from Ibero-America with full and partial scholarships to participate in two high-impact leadership programs: Global Competitiveness Leadership (GCL) & Innovation and Leadership in Government (ILG).
  • Custom Programs. Based on the successful models of both the GCL and ILG programs, the Latin American Board partners with Georgetown’s Executive Education department to design and implement custom programs both in Washington, DC and throughout the region. To date, Latin American leaders from private and public sectors have turned to us to design their own program with distinguished faculty and flexible formats addressing their real-world challenges.
  • Alumni Networks. The Latin American Board works with and supports the GCL and ILG alumni networks which are active agents of change throughout the region. Members of these networks interact and support each other in an organized platform which allows and promotes exchange of ideas and a greater impact through their diverse initiatives.
  • Events & Strategic Alliances. The Latin American Board collaborates with other Georgetown University departments and sponsors public dialogues that bring together leaders from government, business, civil society, and the academy to address the Latin America Initiative’s core themes of governance and the rule of law, economic growth and innovation, and social and cultural inclusion. The Board also supports an annual, interdisciplinary academic conference on issues of importance to Latin America.
