CAMPUS EVENT: Peruvian Social Entreprenuer, Albina Ruiz

Growing up in the Peruvian jungle, Albina Ruiz was fortunate enough to attend a local convent school where the nuns instilled a love of learning and a sense of responsibility for others. She was the only woman in her class at the National University of Engineering, where she majored in Industrial Engineering. Ruiz started worrying about health and environmental problems caused by garbage in Peru when she was a university student…. After writing her thesis, she came up with an idea for a new community-managed system of waste collection that she hoped would serve as a model for urban and rural communities around Peru.
